Mr. Burns founded BSC Forensic Services, LLC in Houston, Texas during 2011. His unique background in education, business, engineering and teaching provides BSC with a solid platform for a sustainable forensic engineering practice. Since 2011, BSC has grown to a nationally recognized firm with experts licensed in over 25 states for practice in fields such as: structural, civil, mechanical, electrical, mold, industrial hygiene, as well as fire and explosion. Mr. Burns founded BSC Drone in 2017 and BSC Fire Services in 2018, continuing the growth and expansion of the BSC family of companies.
Mr. Burns’ forensic experience includes structural design, failure analysis, construction defect, personal injury included trips and slips, water losses, wind damage, hail assessments, flooring installation, foundation assessments including plumbing leaks, building envelopes, spray testing, and much more. BSC has completed more than 4,000 inspections on commercial, residential, multi-family, industrial, government, and other types of facilities since incorporation. Mr. Burns began performing full-time forensic engineering services for a nationally recognized forensic services company and quickly became a supervisor, responsible for training and quality control of six forensic engineers serving clients primarily in Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Arkansas and Oklahoma. Prior to full-time forensic investigations, Mr. Burns expanded his structural experience when he joined a firm that focused solely on structural aspects of commercial building designs. The project designs included all structural elements related to multi-story hotels, multi-family apartment complexes, student housing developments, and mixed-use developments. Each project generally included wood-framing design, conventional and post-tensioned foundations, steel framing design, and design and attachment of miscellaneous components and cladding elements.
Our founding principal began his career at a national, full-service civil engineering firm in both Houston & Dallas, Texas. Mr. Burns worked in the infrastructure, transit, and facilities groups on various designs including: concrete and steel bridges; large diameter water mains; concrete, steel, and masonry buildings; train stations; ornate canopy structures; among others. In addition, he performed forensic work pertaining to water pipe failures and Hurricane Rita property damages. Toward the end of his tenure, he also served as a project manager for various government clients on projects ranging in scope from structural designs to fire suppression systems.
Ms. Lindsey Beam has spent 11 years in the Forensic Engineering Industry and came to BSC in 2014 to serve as Director of Client Relations. Her role during her early years at BSC can best be described as project management. Lindsey has been instrumental in the growth of BSC, including helping streamline assignment intake, scheduling, and client coordination. Today, Lindsey actively visits with BSC's clients, ensuring our performance exceeds expectations. Lindsey's down to earth personality, unparalleled work ethic, and commitment to excellence have made her an invaluable member of our team and a trusted resource to our clients.
Prior to coming to BSC Ms. Beam began her forensic engineering career in 2008 with PT&C Forensic Services as an account representative. She was promoted to Asst. VP of Business Development and in 2012 was runner up for the John Mandel Distinguished Service Award, which recognizes and celebrates an employee’s dedication to the following core values: integrity and professionalism; respect, consideration and trust; innovation and calculated risk; team work and open, direct communication.
Prior to her forensic engineering career Ms. Beam worked with Premier Nationwide Lending for 2 years as a Loan Resubmission Coordinator and prior to that spent 2 years as an aide to her alma mater's Assistant Athletic Director.
Ms. Beam is active in her community and her church. She has served as a mentor at Mercy Street in Dallas since 2008 - a mission to raise up a new generation of leaders throughout West Dallas, engaged in mutually-transforming relationships with the residents of West Dallas and beyond, working with them to bring hope and healing to our communities. She also volunteers with various homeless organizations throughout Dallas. She has been volunteering with The Senior Source since 2005, a program that improves the quality of life for older adults in the greater Dallas area through protection, eldercare, financial security, advocacy, volunteerism, and employment services.
Gregory E. Thornton is a qualified forensic fire and explosion investigator. He is certified by the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), as a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (C.F.E.I.). He has over 30 years’ experience, training and education in this field of expertise. This training is the basis of conducting thorough and systematic fire and explosion investigations for determination of the origin, cause and responsibility.
Throughout his career he has participated in thousands of fire scene examinations. Those examinations included residential structures, commercial structures, heavy equipment, vehicles and marine vessels. His responsibilities have included the supervision of employees both on-scene and office type duties. Those duties included interacting with clients and attorneys as well as preparation of in-depth technical reports.
His experience during those years also included the proper recognition, collection and preservation of valuable items of physical evidence.
The gathering and preservation of other types of valuable evidence include: interviews, fire scene reconstruction, fire pattern analysis and arc mapping.
Gregory works as a team member with other personnel members of various expertise, leading to proper analysis, conclusions and opinions.
Tim is filling the role of Director of Business Development for BSC Forensics - BSC Fire. His focus will be on branding, brand recognition, and increasing the radar signature of the BSC Companies (Forensics and Fire) in key markets nationwide. Tim’s reputation in the industry comes from working within a large national and international property insurance network. He looks forward to staying engaged with his network as he assists his connections from his new lane in the road.
Tim additionally brings expertise in arbitration, appraisals, mediation, and property insurance consulting. In his role, he will continue to facilitate appraisals as both appraiser and umpire. He is currently engaged in consulting projects that include a new MGA/carrier offering. He will have the ability to assist carriers as an operations/regulatory consultant.
Mr. Molony has extensive experience in marketing, adjusting, appraisal/umpire work, management, client relations, and training. In 1986, he joined in the Louisiana National Guard, attaining the rank of Sergeant and serving as a utility helicopter Crew Chief until his honorable discharge in 1994. In 1993, he received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Louisiana State University. He earned the designation of Associate in Claims from the Insurance Institute of America in 1996. In 1999 and 2001, respectively, he earned the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters CPCU 510 and CPCU 520 designations.
From 1993 – 1998, Mr. Molony served as a Fire Claims, Automobile Property Damage, and Bodily Injury Claims Representative for State Farm Insurance in Houston, Texas. In addition to mentoring other adjusters, he handled wind, hail, tornado, hurricane, flood, ice storm, plumbing, business interruption, and fire claims on residential and commercial policies, including boat and manufactured home policies. He also used alternative dispute resolution to facilitate settlements, when needed, and suggested improvements to scene investigation efficiency which were eventually implanted nationwide.
From 1998 – 2001, Mr. Molony was an original member of State Farm’s Catastrophe Claims Central (CCC) Pilot Program in Jacksonville, Florida and Houston, Texas. In that capacity, he conceived and conducted training seminars, both individual and in a classroom setting, for beginning and advanced estimatics; completed file reviews and audits to evaluate and improve customer service and effectiveness; performed in-person reviews of service with policyholders and led feedback meetings with staff and management; helped establish standards for CCC in-office claims; assisted Claims Representatives on total loss estimates for both commercial and residential losses; ran the commercial unit for Hurricane Floyd with losses totaling in excess of $1M; and created the outline for the current boat unit now in place at State Farm. During this time, Mr. Molony also specialized in flood and large loss claims.
In 2001, Mr. Molony was selected by State Farm Executive to manage the League City office. In his capacity as Mold Unit Manager, from 2001 – 2003, Mr. Molony led the highest-producing State Farm Mold Unit in Texas; assisted in managing two other offices; trained new adjusters, agents, and claims departments; and implemented streamlined mold claim procedures which were adopted statewide.
From 2003 – 2005, as an Independent Insurance Adjuster, Underwriter, and Training Unit member, Mr. Molony handled claims for State Farm, Allstate, Liberty Mutual, Texas Select, Fidelity, and Great American; completed underwriting reviews for Texas Select and American Strategic Insurance; taught NFIP Certification courses to adjusters; and trained and managed independent adjusters to handle of large loss commercial and residential claims.
From 2005 – 2006, Mr. Molony served as Catastrophe Operations Administration Manager for Citizens Property Insurance Corporation in Jacksonville, Florida. In that capacity, he managed clean-up of the 2004 hurricane season claims and was heavily involved in all aspects of Catastrophe Operations for Hurricanes Dennis, Katrina, Rita, and Wilma, totaling over 180,000 claims. Mr. Molony was responsible for orienting, employing, and managing over 2500 independent adjusters. He also assisted in modifying the existing CTS (Claims Tracking System) to eliminate glitches and improve performance and aided in the successful turn-around of Catastrophe Operations to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
In 2006, Mr. Molony founded Nomad Adjusting LLC in Frisco, Texas. In addition to serving as President of the company, Mr. Molony worked as an appraiser and umpire, specializing in commercial and residential appraisals. He procured contracts with clients and served as the primary vendor contact for elevated claims issues, working directly with carriers, agents, policyholders, public adjusters, and attorneys. He served as Umpire, Appraiser, Mediator, or Carrier Representative for several insurance companies. Mr. Molony consulted with carriers on the handling of certain policy provisions and endorsements, presented CE courses at industry events, marketed the firm to insurance companies and self-insured entities, recruited experienced adjusters, consulted insurance companies on Catastrophe Operations needs, and developed a thorough familiarity with insurance industry regulations and legislation.
In addition to his extensive field and on-the-job experience, Mr. Molony is also an accomplished instructor. He has presented and/or moderated courses and seminars on the following topics: Catastrophe Management and Preparedness, Noncompliance with Policy Conditions, The Nitty Gritty of Property Policy Conditions, Claims Management Best Practices, Improving Adjuster Accuracy in Estimatics and Adherence to DOI Guidelines, Life of a Fire Claim, and many more.
Charles E. Shotwell, IAAI-CFI, NAFI-CFEI joined BSC in April 2019 as Senior Fire Investigator. He previously served as Vice President of the Fire and Explosion Division of an international forensic investigations firm. Mr. Shotwell has over 30 years of experience and has conducted over 1600 fire and explosion investigations globally. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Police Administration from Eastern Kentucky University and has testified as an expert in fire and explosion investigations in both state and federal courts.
Mr. Shotwell’s experience includes large/complex loss management and investigations that have involved long duration deployments and team responses. Examples of his large loss fire/explosion investigations include losses involving particle board manufacturing, warehousing, correctional facilities, chemical manufacturing facilities, energy plants, multi-residential complexes, large retail centers, sea port bulk tank facilities and multiple fatality incidents.
Frank D. Poag is a Professional Engineer and Certified Fire & Explosion Investigator specializing in loss investigation and failure analysis. Extensive knowledge and expertise applying practical electrical engineering and mechanical knowledge and experience in the field of engineering investigations and failure analysis.
Experience in Origin and Cause investigations includes: fire & explosions, electrocution / fatality, appliances & electronic failures, HVAC systems, electrical systems and wiring, water-damaged electrical equipment, lightning strike damage assessment, vehicle failures, electrical power surge analysis, code compliance assessment, corrosion evaluation, control systems, medical equipment, and equipment loss consulting.
Anthony Wm. Flynn is a Forensic Investigator with over 35 years of domestic and overseas engineering experience. He is currently a Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in 26 states. He is currently qualified by the Texas Board of Professional Engineers (TBPE) in the Mechanical, Electrical and Civil PE disciplines. He is an Instructor for EduMind’s School of Professional Engineering, which prepares engineers to pass the Professional Engineering Licensing Exams, and School of MD, which prepares Pre-Med. students to perform well on the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). Mr. Flynn is currently a Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH), a Certified Fire and Explosion Investigator (C.F.E.I.) by the National Association of Fire Investigators (NAFI), and a Licensed Mold Assessment Consultant (MAC) by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS). Formerly, Mr. Flynn was a Licensed General Contractor (GC) by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR), a Licensed Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, & Refrigeration (HVAC/R) Contractor by the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR), a Licensed Mold Remediation Contractor and a Licensed Asbestos Abatement Supervisor by the Texas DSHS. Prior to conducting forensic investigations, Mr. Flynn worked in the fields of Computer Manufacturing, Oilfield (Well Logging) Equipment Manufacturing, and Aerospace. Overseas experience included a two year expatriate assignment in Brazil, and a one year temporary assignment in Japan.
Mark C. Roberts, Certified Specialist of Wine (CSW), joined BSC Forensics as Wine Loss Investigator in June 2019. In this capacity, he conducts wine loss investigations, including premises losses and inland & marine shipping losses. Substantiating wine losses may include pallet examination, bottle examination, chemical testing, inventory, and appraisal, among other methods. Additionally, his areas of expertise include: wine judging, wine writing, purchasing and sourcing of fine wines, procurement logistics, inventory management, private wine cellar consultation, and helping to train and educate other sommeliers and future sommeliers.
At the age of 21, Mr. Roberts became one of the first Sommeliers in the State of Texas. In his twenties, he developed the beverage program for the Shoreline Restaurant Corporation’s numerous restaurants, setting the industry bar for innovation in food and wine pairing. After leaving the hospitality industry, he worked in the fine wine retail arena and held positions as Wine Director, Director of Fine Wine Marketing, and Corporate Wine Buyer. He is also an accomplished author in the field of fine wine, having had over 50 articles published on the subject.
In 2005, Mark founded Wine Service Consulting, Inc. (WSC) to offer a more diverse service to the wine world. WSC conducts wine consultations and wine service training for the private/ corporate aviation industry and cellar appraisals for collectors, estates, and divorces.
Ashley Molony joined BSC Forensics in 2019 after 13 years with Nomad Adjusting. As a founding member of Nomad Adjusting she was a driving force in the success and exceptional reputation the company earned in the industry. Ashley was responsible for day-to-day, quarterly, and year-end accounting. In her role as office administrator she was also the HR resource for the firm. Ashley enjoyed the “behind the scenes” duties as much as her regular role. Highly creative, she was responsible for many of the marketing tools that were developed for the firm:

• Event coordination for many important industry conferences
Prior to her tenure at Nomad, Ashley worked at Friendswood Frame and Gallery for 12 years. Over that time, Ashley learned every aspect of the business and eventually ran the business with and for Joe and Mary Prihoda. Ashley’s creative side informed many of the purchases made by the gallery. Additionally, she was responsible for window dressing and merchandizing for the entire store. Ashley also handled the day-to-day business needs of accounting, payroll, and other administrative duties.
